A renowned renewable energy company, which specialises in heat pump installations, has solved its manual handling issues after taking delivery of two new vans complete with Faiveley Vapor Ricon cargo lifts.

HEX Energy, which is based in Nuneaton, Warwickshire, researched appropriate lifts to solve the weighty issues it was experiencing in lifting the heat pumps into its existing transport fleet and subsequently chose Faiveley Vapor Ricon.

Solution

Preferring the Faiveley Vapor Ricon product, HEX Energy contacted the FVR team who worked close with the HEX Energy team to create a workable solution which resulted in an additional side door being installed in the Fiat Ducato vans to give added flexibility to the functionality of the van on a day to day basis.

The lift needed to support up to 350kg – the typical weight of a heat pump – and allow easy loading at the business premises, and equally easy unloading at the customer’s property.

Results

The Cargo lift was specified which was ideal for side access in this case but also rear access too. Typically taking up less than 0.5 sqm (base footprint), the lift can be easily fitted to most light commercial vehicles. This allowed HEX Energy to be able to move heat pumps when required, but also utilise the vehicle space for tools and other necessary equipment when installing the heat pump after it had been delivered.

Working within Health and Safety guidelines, the lift offered reliable performance and a user friendly design. It can accommodate up to a 500kg safe working load and itself weighs between 169kg and 184 kg depending upon the model specifications. It is suitable for a wide range of lifting requirements across a variety of business sectors.

What the customer said

“The team at Faiveley Vapor Ricon have understood our challenge and provided a perfect solution and service that has been incredibly beneficial to the logistics side of our business,” said Ernie Wells at Hex Energy. “A little creativity and innovation on their part allowed us to find the perfect way to transport our heat pumps safely, and to ensure our staff were no longer having to lift the pumps into vehicles. I would definitely recommend the product, and the team, and we look forward to working with them again in the future.”
