A mobile Citizens Advice Office that supports the people of Bournemouth, Poole and Christchurch at public events has become accessible for the first time after the installation of a Faiveley Vapor Ricon wheelchair lift.
Challenge
The Mercedes Sprinter Van required a compact solution that was easily stowed when the vehicle was travelling and not in use by the public. It was also required to be robust and easily operated to give operators and users complete confidence.
The Citizens Advice Team worked with a local conversion company who researched the choices available to them, selecting the FVR lift as their preferred option.
Solution
The S2014, a product from the Faiveley Vapor Ricon S Series range of lifts, was fitted in the Mercedes Sprinter Van and utilised rear access.
This particular lift design is a popular choice for commercial, community and healthcare transport vehicles due to its space saving footprint and versatility. It is easily controlled by a member of staff working in the mobile office. It has a powerful electro-hydraulic motor that is backed up by a manual system should the need arise. Furthermore, there is the added benefit of the industry leading Ricon Safety Zone which offers front and rear rollstops, handrails and secures the passenger during operation of the lift.
In addition, one of the newest products from the FVR portfolio was fitted in conjunction with the lift; a set of 900mm electric steps making access for all easier.
By making this important community facility accessible, all members of the community can now seek advice, on a range of matters, at events where the van will be located.
